If you are behind on your utility bills and you or someone in your household has a serious illness or medical condition that would be worsened without electricity, you may qualify for protection from shutoff or restoration of service.

A licensed medical professional must certify that you or a member of your household is seriously ill or has been diagnosed with a medical condition which requires the continuation of service to treat the medical condition.

Important Information
  • A medical certificate protects your service from interruption for up to 30 days.
  • You must continue paying your current monthly charges or budget amount during the certificate period.
  • Any past due balance remains due when the certificate expires.
  • Failure to pay could result in a service termination.
What Happens Once Approved?
  • You will receive an email notification.
  • The certificate is valid for up to 30 days. If more time is needed, your doctor may submit a new certificate.
