Clearance Requirement to Other Materials

6 feet is the minimum clearance requirement from pad-mounted equipment. 

  • Sectionalizing Enclosure
  • Switches 
  • Transformers 
To other conductive materials: 
  • Fences 
  • Poles 
  • Traffic signs 
  • Communication pedestals 

Clearance Requirement to Windows Doors Roofs

10 feet is the minimum clearance requirement from pad-mounted equipment. 

  • Sectionalizing Enclosure/Coffins 
  • Switches 
  • Transformers 
To other conductive materials: 
  • Doors/Windows 
20 feet of vertical clearance is required above all equipment. 

Working Space Around Equipment

5 feet on all sides and 9 feet by 9 feet on operating sides of equipment is the space requirement from pad-mounted equipment. 

  • Sectionalizing Enclosure/Coffins 
  • Switches 
  • Transformers 
To other conductive materials:   
  • Buildings
    • Brick, Block, Stone, etc. 
  • Bollards 
  • Fencing 

From Drivable Surfaces

5 feet on all sides and 9 feet by 9 feet on operating sides of equipment is the space requirement from pad-mounted equipment.
