Our Lineworkers maintain 690 miles of high-voltage transmission lines and 7,200 miles of distribution circuit lines.

UNDERGROUND

This department may work underground, but they take pride in powering Pittsburgh’s skyline.

SENIOR OPERATORS

When trouble arises, our Senior Operators are the first line of defense.

Operations Center

These employees coordinate real-time emergencies, manpower allocation and the activation additional emergency plans as needed. The Switching Dispatcher Apprentice Program provides training for these skills.

SUBSTATIONS

Every watt of electricity that Pittsburghers use flows through a substation that we maintain.

DESIGN TECHNICIANS

All projects related to providing service to our customers start with the design and field work of our technicians.

TRANSPORATION

Our automotive and fleet group ensures that 650 company vehicles are in tip-top shape for crossing bridges and keeping the lights on.

METERING

While we all feel very connected to the greater-Pittsburgh community, DLC’s metering department is especially connected to our customers.

ELECTRICAL DISTRIBUTION TECHNOLOGY PROGRAM

The Electrical Distribution Technology (EDT) program provides training in the basic skills, knowledge, and abilities candidates would need to apply for skilled craft positions in the electrical utility industry as Overhead Lineworkers and Underground Splicers.
