Celebrate Home & Garden Show’s 25 Years in a Special Way
Volunteers to Build Habitat for Humanity Homes During Event
Join us at the 2006 Duquesne Light Home & Garden Show – running March 3-12 at
the David Lawrence Convention Center – for a special anniversary celebration.
Once again, we’re serving as title sponsor of the home show, which is marking its 25th anniversary. At
the same, we’re recognizing Pittsburgh Habitat for Humanity’s 20 years of providing low-income families
with affordable housing by introducing the “Duquesne Light PowerHouse” program.
As part of this special program, a host of volunteers will assist Habitat for Humanity in constructing two
homes inside the convention during the 10-day show. Afterwards, the Habitat for Humanity structures will
be moved to a local site, where they will become new homes for deserving families.
Duquesne Light employee volunteers will kick off the PowerHouse program on the show’s opening night, and
will continue to assist with the home construction throughout the event. Home show visitors can support
the project in three ways: volunteer to help build the homes at the show (under the supervision of skilled
professionals); register to volunteer at a future Habitat for Humanity event; or make a monetary donation
to the organization.
So, come to the Duquesne Light Home & Garden Show, and help to make a local family’s dream of owning a
home become a reality.
