Call Center
Duquesne Light’s Customer Call Center is staffed around-the-clock by trained personnel ready to record your power outage information and dispatch your problem to our Distribution Operations Center where all repair work is coordinated.

During major storms, Duquesne Light increases the number of people available to respond to customer calls. However, customers may experience busy signals and longer-than-normal waiting periods during times of high call volumes.

Customers always have the option of using ElectriCall® to report a power outage by following the recorded instructions or by using our online service.
Distribution Operations Center
Information from customer calls is automatically transferred by computer to the Company’s Distribution Operations Center (DOC) where power restoration efforts are coordinated.

In many cases, supervisors at the DOC can restore power to the majority of customers affected by an outage using state-of-the-art computer technology. These computers are used to remotely open and close switches located on utility poles to reroute electricity and isolate the area where equipment is damaged. While this switching is being done, a field investigator who is a specialist in power restoration, is sent to the location. Often, this trouble investigator is able to correct the problem. However, if the problem involves wires down or damaged poles or transformers, a repair crew is dispatched equipped with all the necessary materials to repair the damage and restore service.
