Kick Off Holiday Season as We Light Up Market Square

Market Square has become the place to be on Light Up Night for thousands of holiday revelers. When Duquesne Light returns as Light Up Night sponsor on Friday, Nov. 16, this popular Pittsburgh gathering spot will be illuminated like never before.

As part of the festivities, we’re decorating Market Square with new holiday lighting. The winner of Duquesne Light’s "Light Up Night Sweepstakes" will illuminate the square at 7 p.m. Throughout the evening, Market Square will take on a carnival-like atmosphere, with live music, street performers and children’s games. And, of course, the night wouldn’t be complete without a stop at our booth for a Light Up Night favorite – the Duquesne Light glowstick.

Illuminating Market Square is just our latest effort to make Pittsburgh glow throughout the holiday season. For close to two decades, Duquesne Light’s “Tree of Lights” in Point State Park has been a holiday landmark. More recently, we’ve celebrated Light Up Night by illuminating snowflakes along Fifth Avenue and the block-long display in Mellon Square.
