Since 1985, our Partners in Education program has helped students increase their level of achievement by
bolstering the resources in their schools. By linking schools with local media, cultural, academic,
environmental and social organizations, students are exposed to new career opportunities, engaged in learning
programs to expand their skills in math, technology and literacy, and helped to build their self-esteem as they
discover new capabilities and opportunities to enhance their futures. Fifteen schools participate in the partnership,
which includes Vann Elementary, Margaret Milliones Technology Academy and Schenley High School in Pittsburgh, as
well as all schools in the Aliquippa, Big Beaver Falls Area and Clairton school districts.
Recently the company welcomed the fishing club from Milliones Technology Academy back to
Warwick Mountain Fisheries, a remote trout fishery in Green County where Duquesne Light
raises rainbow and brown trout in treated mine water on the site of the former Warwick
Coal mines. The students (and their teachers) look forward to their visits to Warwick
Fisheries because they provide a powerful opportunity to spend time with positive role
models from the company, visit a part of the region they would not normally see, visualize
the environmental and biology lessons they have experienced in school, and have fun
developing their fishing skills (and their big fish stories).
The one that didn't get away!
Duquesne Light employee Kenya Boswell caught lunch for the
group.
It takes teamwork to reel in Bubba.
You can hold it, but just remember I'm the one who caught
him.
