Duquesne Light Sponsors Artists Market, Kids’ Art Mart

Duquesne Light once again sponsored the Three Rivers Arts Festival, which annually brings nearly 600,000 people to downtown Pittsburgh to experience music, dance, theater, visual art, craft and family activities. Promoted as “Summer in the City,” the 2007 arts festival ran June 1-17. The festival’s new footprint filled Market Square, PPG Plaza and Gateway Center with performances and art-related activities.

The company hosted two activities that added to the 17-day festival’s uniqueness – the Duquesne Light Artists Market and the Kids’ Art Mart. The Artists Market in Gateway Center featured more than 300 exhibitors demonstrating their unique craft and selling their one-of-a-kind creations. The Kids’ Art Mart provided artists age 18 and younger with the opportunity to display and sell their original works.

Following are some photographs taken at the company’s booth during the opening weekend of the arts festival:

At the booth, children and other visitors take a brush to one of the large Pittsburgh-themed murals.

Duquesne Light employee volunteers help to staff the booth during weeknights and on weekends.

Visitors to Duquesne Light’s booth could fill out an entry form for a chance to win an original work from one of the festival’s “emerging artists.”
