‘Living the Dream’ Volunteers Help Nonprofits Make a Difference
Employee volunteers commemorated the life and contributions
of Martin Luther King Jr. by participating in Duquesne Light's
12th "Living the Dream" community service project on Jan. 15.
More than 45 volunteers spent the day assisting six local nonprofit
organizations:
Baldwin Health Center – Participants escorted and interacted with seniors during various activities.
Beaver County Women’s Center and Shelter – Volunteers helped to sort donations.
Community Life Adult Day Services in McKeesport – Volunteers interacted with seniors.
Hosanna Industries – Volunteers assisted with indoor and outdoor renovations to the home of a low-income family.
JAA Council Care and Weinberg Village in Squirrel Hill – Volunteers held a game day for residents.
Kane Hospital in Scott Township – Volunteers interacted with seniors during visits, games and a special session honoring Dr. King.
The activity coordinator at Community Life Adult Day Services sent
a letter thanking the company for sending volunteers to the McKeesport
site. "The three gentlemen who joined us for the day were exceptional
around our participants," she wrote. "They participated in our day's
activities and even graciously took leadership in the reading of Martin
Luther King Jr.'s speech, 'I Have a Dream.' Once again, thank you and please
make known that (the volunteers) were a joy to work with for the day."
