‘Living the Dream’ Employee Volunteers Honor Martin Luther King Jr.
More than 40 employee volunteers participated in
Duquesne Light’s 11th “Living the Dream” community
service project on Monday, Jan. 16, joining thousands of
others across the region in commemorating the legacy of
Dr. Martin Luther King Jr.
If he were alive today, King would have celebrated his
77th birthday on Jan. 15. In tribute, company
participants spent Martin Luther King Jr. Day assisting at
seven local nonprofit organizations: Allentown Adult Day
Service; Baldwin Health Center; East End Adult Day
Service; Kane Hospital in Scott Township; Little Sisters
of the Poor in Brighton Heights; McGuire Memorial Home
in New Brighton; and Weinberg Village in Squirrel Hill.
“According to Dr. King, life’s persistent and most
urgent question is, ‘what are you doing for others?’”
said Pam Coates, Duquesne Light’s manager, Community
Relations. “Living the Dream is Duquesne Light’s answer
to that question. Through this project, and the many
other community outreach activities we are involved in
throughout the year, our employees can act in Dr. King’s
spirit by serving others, including those who have
already contributed so much to our communities.”
