The CONNECTORS, Duquesne Light’s dedicated group of employee volunteers, have a
mission to help strengthen the company’s ties to the Pittsburgh region. Their
name represents the role the volunteers play in connecting the company to the
community, connecting the community to our employees and connecting employees to
each other. Although many Duquesne Light employees already are actively
volunteering in their communities, a major goal of the CONNECTORS is to increase
the overall level of employee participation in the communities we serve. The
group provides an organized way for employees to become involved in volunteerism
through company-sponsored events and programs.
Throughout the year, our employee volunteers support dozens of diverse community
outreach activities in Allegheny and Beaver counties. These projects have
included: Living the Dream, an annual community service project that
commemorates the life and work of Martin Luther King Jr.; the United Way’s Day
of Caring; Duquesne Light Reads for the Fun of It; the Alzheimer’s Association’s
Memory Walk; Rebuilding Together Pittsburgh, A Soldiers Christmas in August, a
fundraiser for Operation Troop Support; and The Power of Warmth, a Duquesne Light
initiative to provide new winter coats for underserved youths.
