Budget Payment Plan
If you’re like most people, your electric bill varies from season to season. Sometimes it’s higher; sometimes it’s lower. You can help level out these ups and downs by paying the Budget Amount shown on your monthly statement. We determine the Budget Amount by calculating your average past and present electric use.

Senior Citizen Due Date Extension Program
If your Social Security check and your electric bill arrive about the same time, you may face a temporary cash-flow problem…and end up paying late fees. We can save you that extra expense by giving you a few extra days to pay your electric bill without a penalty.

You’re eligible for this free Senior Citizen Due Date Extension Program if you receive a Social Security or equivalent check (such as Railroad Retirement, or Retired Federal Employment), have the electric account listed in your name, and have an electric bill that’s due on days 1 through 5, or on days 21 through 31 of the month.

Double Notice Protection for Overdue Bills
This plan helps prevent any mix-ups if you happen to misplace or forget an electric bill or disconnect notice. If you’ve signed up for this plan and are in danger of having your electric service turned off because of non-payment of a bill, we’ll send a payment reminder to you and also to any other person you designate – a friend, neighbor, relative, or even a member of the clergy. That person is not obligated to pay your electric bill for you. He or she simply can provide a friendly reminder, to help make sure that any inconvenience is avoided.

Likewise, you can become a recognized "third party" for someone else. All you need is his or her written consent.

Bill-payer Gift Certificates
Is there someone on your gift list who is going away to school, on a fixed income, or having financial trouble? Duquesne Light Bill-payer Gift Certificates are a perfect way to lend a hand. They’re applied directly to the recipient’s electric account, and you can purchase them in any amount, starting as low as $5.
