Duquesne Light Used Collaborative Process
to Develop Act 129 Conservation Programs In the fall of 2008, Governor Rendell signed new legislation intended to help residents and businesses save money by reducing electric consumption. Act 129 requires all electric distribution companies (EDCs) to reduce energy consumption and demand in Pennsylvania. To accomplish these goals, Duquesne Light and the other EDCs in the state will be offering specific conservation and demand response measures for each of their residential, commercial and industrial customer groups. During April, Duquesne Light held a series of collaborative exchange meetings with customers to help develop our plans and programs to comply with Act 129. Copies of the presentations at those meetings, and other information, can be found here. In May, Duquesne Light issued a request for proposal from conservation-services providers for Act 129-related energy-efficiency services for large office building customers. A copy of the RFP can be found here. On June 19, 2009, Duquesne Light provided the Public Utility Commission (PUC) an update on its progress to date in meeting Act 129 requirements. A copy of that presentation can be found here. On July 1, 2009, Duquesne Light filed its Energy Efficiency and Conservation Plan with the PUC. A copy of the filing can be found here. In August, Duquesne Light issued requests for proposal from conservation-services providers for Act 129-related energy-efficiency services for the Chemicals and Allied Products, Primary Metals and Small Office Building market sectors. In September, Duquesne Light issued requests for proposal from conservation-services providers for Act 129-related energy-efficiency services for the Commercial Retail Market Segment and the Mixed Industrial Segment. Another request for proposal was issued relating to our Residential Energy Efficiency Rebate Program. |
